The Road is Long

Nov. 4/14

A quick update from the road. I am finally on the home stretch of my fall touring. I have had the privilege of performing everywhere between Ontario and B.C., even made it up north to Churchill, Manitoba. I have taken planes, trains, and automobiles. I want to share a new song I wrote aboard the Via Rail riding back from the Big Smoke a few weeks back. Hope you enjoy!

Back to the Road

Sep. 4/14

This winter was the longest and coldest since 1898, it also feels like the shortest summer I can remember. Regardless, I managed to find some time to relax amidst the daily routines of organizing an extremely busy fall/winter.

I will be hitting the road with Matt Filopoulos on Sept. 12 for a month of shows out west. After that tour, I will be hopping on a train to Toronto in October. When I return to Winnipeg I'll be heading back out west for another few weeks. When the touring is all said and done I will be assembling a team of amazing musicians and production staff to record my sophomore album.

Thank you friends and family for a wonderful summer! How about an exclusive video recorded with banjo player-dobro player-bassist-photographer-videographer-professional face painter extraordinaire, Anthony Kost (I don't think there is anything this guy can't do!)

Jeanne d'Arc Sessions

Aug. 25/14

Instead of writing a reflection on the Shine On Music Festival and posting an iPhone Series video this week, I am thinking I will just promote the Jeanne d'Arc Sessions I did with my pals Pierre Freynet, and Sam Little. Here is a little write up from Pierre:

"I had the pleasure of attending the Shine On Festival of Music & Art this weekend and saw so many great local acts and had a blast jamming with friends. These small local festivals are a testament to the incredible amount of talent that exists in this province. If you were there, you may have seen Kevin Roy and his band perform. They were awesome. And coincidentally, the featured guest for Episode 11 - Part I of The Jeanne d'Arc Sessions is Kevin Roy!

I had the good fortune to meet Kevin at this year's Winnipeg Folk Festival. We jammed around a campfire and I could tell immediately that this guy is the real deal. He knows a ton of songs, he's a prolific songwriter, and he is also a killer fingerstyle and flatpicking guitar player. Formerly a school teacher, Kevin decided a year ago that he would quit his job to dedicate himself to playing music full time.

We were very pleased to have the opportunity to record a few tunes with him and for this first one we played one of Kevin's original tunes called Ballad To The West.

Please subscribe to our YouTube channel if you want to stay up to date on the latest videos, and thanks for watching!"
