iPhone Video Series
Jul. 25/14I am starting a brand new iPhone Video Series on my YouTube Channel. I encourage you to check it out and subscribe. I will be posting brand new material, as well as some older stuff and covers. This is a great opportunity to check out some new songs and have your say in what will be going on the next album (in production winter 2014). The first episode features a brand new song, titled, 'The Mighty River'. Growing up in the valleys of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, spring flooding is a reality we all must face year after year. Even with water diversion systems in place, low lying properties, towns and cities will face challenges of surviving the rising waters in the spring. This song is a story following one farming family, dependent on the fields, struggling to fend off the rising water. Stay tuned for future instalments!
School's Out For Summer/Forever?
Jun. 27/14A year ago today I taught my last day in the classroom. I decided to pursue music as a full-time occupation. Trading lesson plans for songs, classrooms for barrooms, and students, who, at times struggled to pay attention to what I had to say, to some of the most amazing audiences in the country. I have travelled thousands of kilometres to the Ocean and back, and back again. Zigzagging my way through mountain passes and aboard Ferries, foreign places for a Manitoba boy. I could not be more grateful for all the support, hospitality, and general acts of kindness from so many people I have met along the way. My second year commences July 1st, Canada Day at the Forks. I will be a part of Manitoba Music's Railbridge Stage performing at 3pm. I will leave you with a song I wrote after making the decision to continue my life as a musician for another year. It has not been an easy shift in career, 'strikes & gutters' as the Dude would say. But, at the end of the day, I am able to do what I love. Thank you friends! I am looking forward to another year. Stay tuned for updates, it's going to be a busy one!
